What are the Sunnahs in meeting a Muslim
1. Greeting:
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked: 'Which Islam is better (in deeds)?' He said, 'Feeding the people and greeting your acquaintances and your strangers.'
2. Extending replying to salam:
By way of walaikum salaam with warahtullahi wa barkatuh, it has thirty virtues. A Muslim recites Salam many times day and night.
Remember that one should give the full salam even when leaving: when one of you comes to meet him, say: Salam, and when someone decides to leave, say: Salam.
3. Meeting with a smile, as the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said: Do not look down on any good thing - even if it is meeting your brother with a smile.
4. Shaking hands - There are no two Muslims who meet each other and shake hands, they are forgiven before they part.
5. Saying Kalima Tayyabah or good words):
Tell my servants to say what is good. Verily Shaytan incites them to do evil in them, verily Shaytan is the clear enemy of man.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said a kalima at tayyyybah is a sadaqah. Kalima Tayyiba includes remembrance of Allah, du'a, salam, praising others for their good deeds, good manners, good behavior and actions.
